Introduction | How the archive is organized

The archival section of this website contains sketches of compositions, notational reforms, theoretical ideas, and other various musical fragments.

These have accumulated mostly between 2004 and 2009, and at the present time (January 2012) are all contained haphazardly in several folders and one storage box.

The aim of this archival project is to retrieve and sort all fragments, so that their material can be fully explored and utilized.

The sketches will first be uploaded as unsorted material in necessarily arbitrary order. It will then be catalogued by page size and order of retrieval, then manually copied and categorized.

Once all the sketches have reached this endpoint, the material will be ready for further elaboration, depending on the kind of material that it is. Musical fragments, where they show promise, might become complete works; theoretical ideas might be developed into comprehensive pedagogical resources.

In the meantime, as the archive evolves, I hope that it provides an insight into my working methods and aesthetic concerns, as well as a demonstration of how I attempt to combine musical theory and practice.
